Ngurah Rai Airport Passengers Increasing in May 2022
The number of domestic and international passengers at Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport increasing in May 2022.
“In that period, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport served an average of 32,582 passengers and 226 flights per day,” said General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Handy Heryudhitiawan, Thursday (9/6).
Based on data from Ngurah Rai Airport, the airport has served 1,006,662 passengers and 7,002 aircraft. This figure has increased when compared to April. Domestic passengers increased by 64% and international passengers increased by 107%.
The increase in the number of passengers is driven by the ease of regulations for air travel at this time, said Heryudhitiawan.
On 17th May Bali announced that the pre-arrival PCR test for fully vaccinated travelers was removed. Officials also relaxed the rules around wearing masks in outdoor public settings. The central government also extended the visa on arrival program to include 72 countries.
Domestic flight routes are dominated by passengers from Jakarta, Surabaya, and Makassar. Meanwhile, international flight routes are dominated by passengers from Singapore, Melbourne – Australia, and Kuala Lumpur.
This increase in the number of passengers is expected to be a good start for the recovery and economic growth of the Balinese people who have long been affected by the global pandemic.
