Electric Train Project From The Airport to Seminyak

Head of the Bali Transportation Service, IGW Samsi Gunarta announced the plan for an electric train project from the airport to Seminyak. Samsi said that he had prepared a series of the press to share details of the proposal regarding the electric train project. In addition, Samsi also explained that currently a feasibility test has been carried out to be able to conclude the future of one of the mega projects to be built in Bali. The decision regarding the electric train project will be announced next year.

This electric train project aims to reduce road congestion along the Ngurah Rai Airport to Seminyak route, considering that these routes are busy routes that often cause congestion in the Badung area. The presence of this electric train is also expected to be a transportation mode for tourists and local communities to visit tourist sites in Bali, especially the Seminyak area.

Gunarta shared how the development of an electric train demonstrates Bali’s commitment to diversifying growth and a shift towards renewable energy across the island. He said, ‘The situation is that we can no longer maximize road infrastructure in urban areas in Bali. So like it or not, we have to use other transportation systems”.

Similar train systems are already in place in big Indonesian cities like Jakarta and Medan. The services are widely used, and the public has a fair level of trust in the reliability of the service. Something that Gunarta wants to see happen in Bali too. He explained, “Now people don’t want to move if the transportation is not reliable. Whatever the form of transportation must be more reliable and on time. Otherwise, people will choose to use private vehicles”.

The main route for this electric train is from the Ngurah Rai International Airport Bali to Seminyak. Where then other routes (loop) will be made such as the central parking destination, Renon, Benoa, Sanur, and Return to Ngurah Rai Airport.
